2020-21 THESPIAN OFFICERS

After going through an election process, we have successfully voted in a new Thespian Officer Committee! Leading Thespian Troupe #5635 for the 2020-21 school year: Asher Brewer (senior), Ben Carson (sophomore), Clover Cilley Priem (senior), Ejaiya Davis (senior), Johnny Moore (junior), Rogan deCalesta (senior), Rowan Lovering (senior), and Vivien Tritch (senior)


Congratulations Thespian Officers, and remember: "Act well your part; there all the honor lies."

FRIDAY NIGHT SPOTLIGHTS!

Due to the cancelation of Oregon State Thespian Conference, a showcase livestream was put together to showcase the hard work of thespians from all over Oregon! Our very own Riley Given, sophomore, and Torrye Torrance, senior, were selected to showcase their work! Riley performed Letter From The Refuge from NEWSIES!, and Torrye talked about their light design for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. We're very proud of them for representing Churchill Thespians. COVID-19 & OREGON STATE THESPIANS

March 19, 2020

Due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak and Gov. Brown's statement, Oregon State Thespians has had to cancel the 2020 conference. It is with heavy hearts to announce this, and our thoughts are with the other three high schools chosen to showcase, as well as the many other troupes who were preparing for competition. More updates will come about future events, but keep your heads up thespians. We'll all get through this together.

OREGON STATE THESPIAN CONFERENCE

February 2, 2020

Churchill High School Thespians were selected as 1 of 4 shows from the entire state of Oregon to showcase their production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at the Oregon State Thespian Conference in April! They will be performing in Salem's Grand Theater Thursday night, Friday morning, and Friday night! 

We also have two of our own thespians competing at state this year! Rogan deCalesta, junior, qualified with his solo musical "Wall Lovin'" from the musical Island Song. Torrye Torrance, senior, is competing with her lighting design for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time!

WINTER ONE-ACT FESTIVAL UNDERWAY

December 30, 2019

As we go into the new year, we have our 2nd annual Winter One-Act Festival coming up! We have 6 directors and 5 one-acts, all student-directed, -produced, -designed, and -acted. We will have two nights, January 24 and 25, both at 7 PM. Keep an eye out for ticket information and make sure to follow our social media, found at the top!

9 NEW THESPIANS INDUCTED

December 5, 2019

This past Tuesday, we held our first annual thespian induction ceremony to induct 9 new thespians into troupe #5635! We inducted Asher Brewer (junior), Sean Burke (senior), Rogan deCalesta (junior), Rowan Lovering (junior), Em Martini (senior), Julia Middleton (senior), Talia Peck (senior), Torrye Torrance (senior), and Vivien Tritch (junior). As newly inducted thespians, they performed "What Is This Feeling?" from the Broadway musical Wicked. Congratulations thespians!

A SUCCESSFUL CLOSING NIGHT!

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time had a successful closing night November 16! Thank you to everyone who came out to support and watch the show! The One-Acts will begin in January, but our Thespian Induction Ceremony is December 3. We will be celebrating 9 thespian inductions this year.

2019-2020 SEASON ANNOUNCED

August 29, 2019

Churchill Theatre's 2019-2020 season was announced during the information night on August 29! 

Our fall play will be The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, directed by Alex Patton, opening November 7 and closing November 16.

Our Winter One-Act Festival, completely student directed, will be running for two nights this year, January 24 and 25.

Our spring musical will be The Addams Family, (theatrical direction by Alex Patton, choreography by Adam Kelly, orchestral direction by Christopher Mudd, and vocal direction by Jacob Steinberger), opening April 23 and closing May 3. 

2019 FALL PLAY ANNOUNCED

At the last thespian meeting of the 2018-19 school year, it was announced that the fall play for the 2019-20 school year will be The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time by Simon Stephens. It is based off of the original novel by Mark Haddon. Auditions will be held the second week of school in the auditorium and show dates will be in early November!

Churchill Theatre will be holding a small information night for all returning students and parents on August 29 at 6:30 P. M.

DEVIN BAHR TO INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

April 3, 2019

Our very own senior, Devin Bahr, has qualified to compete at the International Thespians Conference in Nebraska! She qualified through the regional and state competitions with her solo song "Breaking Down" from the Broadway musical Falsettos. Congratulations Devin!
